President Donald Trump posted an AI video of himself throwing Stephen Colbert into a trash bin. He shared the clip a day after The Late Show‘s series finale aired on CBS. The 22-second creation escalates a long-running animosity between the president and the late-night host.
Donald Trump posts AI video of throwing Stephen Colbert in dumpster
The video shows an AI rendition of Trump walking onto Colbert’s studio set during what is framed as the host’s farewell broadcast. The president then grabs Colbert by his suit jacket, shakes him, and tosses him into a green trash bin. The simulated crowd roars in the AI clip, as Trump seals the container lid and performs his signature dance to “Y.M.C.A.” It was uploaded late Friday, roughly 24 hours after Colbert’s finale.
After the finale, Donald Trump also wrote on Truth Social that the host had “no talent, no ratings, no life.” He continued, “He was like a dead person. You could take any person off of the street and they would be better than this total jerk. Thank goodness he’s finally gone!”
However, it seems the numbers from the final episode suggested otherwise. As per Nielsen, the viewership was at 6.7 million (via New York Post). Paul McCartney, Bryan Cranston, and several others appeared on the night.
Stephen Colbert, in his last week on CBS, criticized Donald Trump. He described a $1.8 million Justice Department fund — intended to compensate people who say they were targeted by government weaponization — as an “all-you-can-fraud buffet.” He also called Trump “Blob the builder,” a reference to the president’s construction agenda.
The finale itself was notably warmer in tone. But Colbert did not stay off-screen for long. Less than a day after leaving CBS, he turned up as a surprise guest host on Only in Monroe. The broadcast included appearances from Jack White, Eminem, and Steve Buscemi.
