PewDiePie announces he’s ending his Japan vlogs for son’s privacy
In a new YouTube video, titled “Ending the vlogs,” which was uploaded on May 23, the longtime YouTuber, PewDiePie, explained that he and his wife, Marzia Kjellberg, plan to stop regularly posting personal family content by September after nearly four years of documenting their life in Japan. This was quite a major development for his ardent fans. However, that’s not all, as he also went on to elaborate on the thoughts behind the same.
Furthermore, PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, shared that the decision was mainly driven by concerns surrounding their three-year-old son, Björn, becoming too exposed online. While discussing the same, he explained, “Now he’s 3 years old, and we feel like it’s a good time to end the vlogs. If he wants to be part of it, that should be his choice later.” The celebrated YouTuber also added that the fans may still occasionally see photos or short clips of their family life.
But, they no longer want the responsibility of consistently creating content centered around their child and private moments. PewDiePie also thanked fans for supporting the channel during the transition, saying the audience helped make the move feel less lonely and overwhelming. According to the Tribune, despite ending the vlog series, PewDiePie remains one of YouTube’s most-followed creators with over 110 million subscribers.
