At long last, we could be hearing some new music from Queen Latifah. The iconic rapper and Grammy Award winner has a lot on the go down the stretch of 2026. Among them will be her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November.
Despite her packed schedule, she is vowing to release some new track never heard before this year. Her last album, Persona, came out in 2009.
The iconic star opened up about what could be coming next in her career

After all these years and all her success, Queen Latifah isn’t ready to put her singing career to bed just yet. Speaking to People, she says, “I got all this music at home, and I forget y’all haven’t heard it.” She adds that people other than her close friends and family need to hear it.
Since releasing her last album over a decade ago, she has kept busy with acting and other projects. She has appeared in her share of movies and TV shows over the years, including starring in The Equalizer. Queen Latifah hasn’t forgotten her musical roots either, though, performing at Coachella last year alongside Megan Thee Stallion. She has also featured on songs by Dolly Parton and MC Lyte.
Although she hasn’t gone public with her new music, Queen Latifah says she that has plenty in her back pocket. It remains to be seen how many tunes we’ll hear, but it sounds like it’ll appeal to music lovers of all styles. “Get ready for the many genres that it will come out in,” said Queen Latifah.
News of some upcoming new tunes comes the month after she was named among those to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year. She’ll receive the Early Influence Award alongside Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, MC Lyte and Gram Parsons.
With all of that going on, she will still be grooming aspiring singers on a popular reality show, beginning in September. She was added as a coach for Season 30 of The Voice earlier this month.
