Construction crews have officially started building a full-scale Ultimate Fighting Championship Octagon on the White House South Lawn ahead of Donald Trump‘s highly anticipated combat sports event planned for this summer. Organizers scheduled the event, titled “UFC Freedom Fights 250,” for June 14, which coincides with both Trump’s 80th birthday and Flag Day. They are positioning the spectacle as part of the broader celebrations tied to America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

Construction crews have already erected large scaffolding structures around the White House grounds, and frameworks for lighting rigs and arena support systems now tower above the West Wing and Oval Office from the North Lawn.
According to Ultimate Fighting Championship details released so far, the card will feature a lightweight championship clash between reigning titleholder Ilia Topuria and interim champion Justin Gaethje. The lineup will also include six additional fights. UFC officials confirmed that selected fighters will receive event-based prize payouts, with Crypto.com reportedly providing some of the financial backing.
Trump has repeatedly promoted the event in recent weeks, insisting that public demand for tickets has been overwhelming. During a congressional picnic earlier this month, Trump claimed he had “never seen anybody want anything so much” as fans wanting access to the Ultimate Fighting Championship showcase.
During a later Oval Office appearance alongside several fighters, including Topuria and Gaethje, Trump outlined ambitious plans for attendance and viewing areas around the White House grounds. “Our country is invited to this, it’s free,” Trump told reporters while discussing the setup.
According to Trump, organizers also plan to install approximately 4,000 seats directly outside the White House for premium viewing access near the main cage setup. Meanwhile, ABC News reported that White House spokesperson Davis Ingle talked about the ambitious project in an official statement, describing the upcoming fight card as one of the biggest sporting spectacles ever staged at the White House.
“[This] will be one of the greatest and most historic sports events in history,” Ingle said. He added that Trump chose to host the event at the White House to reflect his vision for celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with large-scale public events designed to capture national attention.
