SZA Brings Back Beyonce’s Plunging Jean Paul Gaultier Dress

Fashion’s favorite time machine just struck again, and this time, SZA is leading the grand revival. The “Nobody Gets Me” singer recently managed to turn heads after stepping out in a stunning archival Jean Paul Gaultier dress once. This was the same statement-worthy dress that was famously worn by none other than Beyonce in 2005. With this pick, SZA proved that great style truly never expires.

With its plunging neckline, colorful layered ruffles, and unmistakable Y2K glamour, the nearly two-decade-old gown looked just as jaw-dropping on SZA as it did on Beyonce during the early 2000s era of fearless celebrity fashion. The whole ensemble legit worked wonders for her fierce and fabulous frame.

SZA becomes Beyonce in plunging Jean Paul Gaultier dress that is perfect for summer

It seems like SZA just pulled off the ultimate fashion time capsule moment by reviving a vibrant archival piece, and that too, one which was crafted by Jean Paul Gaultier. The colorful dress, which Beyonce also wore back in 2005, still worked to perfection. The flowing multicolored gown also worked pure wonders against SZA’s flawless complexion. The ruffled sleeves also added a unique touch to this look.

Furthermore, SZA’s entire piece was finished with layered ruffles at the hemline, which added extra movement. It was also laden with bold prints and, with a rather deep, plunging neckline, added a fiery twist to the piece. This magnificent ensemble comes from the designer’s Spring 2005 era. It instantly gives off Y2K boho-glam energy, which is clearly back in trend, once again.

Beyonce had originally wore the dress during the mid-2000s, at the height of experimental celebrity fashion. In this case, SZA gave it a softer, more playful modern twist. She paired the archival piece with voluminous curls and hot pink pointed heels. It made the nearly 20-year-old design feel surprisingly current. The dress itself blended tropical-inspired graphics and asymmetrical detailing, which was very characteristic of Gaultier’s dramatic early-2000s runway aesthetic. No wonder SZA’s fans loved this one!
