JD Vance reveals he’s ‘OK with’ wife Usha Vance not converting to Christianity
JD Vance revealed how he felt about his wife, Usha Vance, not converting to Christianity. The U.S. Vice President married the now-Second Lady in 2014 and reportedly converted to Catholicism in 2019. Meanwhile, the 40-year-old lawyer didn’t follow her husband’s path and continued to practice Hinduism.
Recently, in an interview with NBC News, he spoke about his spouse’s decision. Earlier, he faced backlash for sharing his thoughts on Usha choosing to follow his path to Christianity. On the topic, the politician opened up, calling it a “pretty simple observation.” He clarified that he had only expressed his hope that his partner would practice the same faith.
Furthermore, Vance acknowledged Usha’s choice and said that he was “OK with that.” “What I’d say about Usha is that one of the things I love about her is that she’s brilliant, but she’s also fiercely independent. You know, fundamentally Christianity is a faith where, if you believe in it, you would like other people to believe in it, too, and that’s going to be particularly true for those that you’re closest to and those you love,” Vance added.
Meanwhile, the vice president also talked about his upcoming book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.” He mentioned that his wife has been the “vicious editor” for his memoir. Moreover, he expressed his gratitude towards Usha, claiming that the book “wouldn’t exist without her.”
