Hannah Waddingham recently spoke about her rapport with Jason Sudeikis on the set of Ted Lasso. The 51-year-old actress hinted at behind-the-scenes conflict, saying they have an “ongoing love-hate relationship.”

According to Variety, production issues delayed season three, including reports of Sudeikis’ extensive script rewrites. During an interview with the outlet, when the Emmy winner was asked if season four ran more smoothly, Waddingham replied, “There’s always going to be a bit of give-and-take within a scene, because of the nature of how Sudeikis works. He hears it in the room, and then we tweak. With that boy, you’ve got to roll with the punches. He and I have an ongoing love-hate relationship that he changes it last minute.”
Since its 2020 debut, the Emmy-winning series has featured her as Rebecca Welton and Sudeikis as Ted Lasso. Talking about their platonic relationship, Waddingham, who has appeared in films like Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, said, “I love that we buck against the norm. And they are undoubtedly soulmates, but that can mean a myriad of things.” She acknowledged fans’ hopes for a romance but avoided discussing it further. “I love all the relationships in it.”
The Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, which also stars Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift, will return with its fourth season on August 5.
In a separate interview with Deadline, Waddingham said she would be happy to continue the show for more seasons. “I’d do it until I’m walking on a Zimmer frame when I’m 80. Love it. I love Rebecca Welton, my character, and the writing is so magnificent. Jason Sudeikis and the writers room, it’s like a finely tuned machine. And the life lessons that you realize that they’re just tipping in here and there, it’s brilliant.”
