Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly asked King Charles for assistance amid growing financial concerns. The King, however, has previously emphasized a “slimmed-down monarchy” focused on working royals.
Prince Harry reportedly wants King Charles’ help due to growing financial strain
According to OK!, Prince Harry may ask King Charles for help due to rising financial pressure. The costs stem from his charitable work and maintaining their California lifestyle with Meghan Markle.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties in 2020. They relocated to Montecito and built a life centered on media, business, and charity work. However, after a series of commercial setbacks, questions have emerged about the couple’s finances. Sources say that they spend roughly $6 million annually on staff and the maintenance of their $29 million Montecito estate.
The timing is notable with the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham approaching, an event Prince Harry helped found. Recent developments include the withdrawal of government funding for Invictus Australia. Vice-chair Melloney Poole also stepped down during a critical period for the organization.
A source revealed that “Harry has become increasingly candid in the few conversations he is having on the phone with Charles and is no longer trying to put a brave face on the challenges he and Meghan are dealing with behind the scenes. He has been honest about the financial strain that comes with maintaining their charitable projects, funding a large security operation, supporting their business ventures and sustaining the lifestyle they have built in California. The reality is that the costs are enormous and there is a growing feeling on Harry’s side that the pressure has become relentless. He doesn’t believe he can continue carrying that burden alone forever and wants his father to understand just how difficult things have become.”
Insiders noted that King Charles has the influence and resources to change Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s situation. The 41-year-old reportedly feels cut off from his former networks. He hopes that his father can ease the practical and reputational pressure through financial support, public backing, introductions, or approval.
