Judge Rejects Country Music Star Garth Brooks’ Bid To Speed up Appeal in Sex Assault Case

Country singer Garth Brooks has recently suffered a major legal setback when a California appellate judge denied his plea to speed up his interlocutory appeal on a sexual assault case levelled against him by his former hairdresser and makeup artist.

The legal saga, which is threatening to ruin Brooks’s career and reputation, was initially filed by an accuser going by the name of “Jane Roe,” who accused Brooks of sexual assault, battery, and harassment linked to an incident in 2019.

Garth Brooks hit with a new court setback as the sexual assault suit drags on

Brooks finds himself in hot water after being unable to fast-track the case. As it stands, the civil case will go on as a multi-month or year-long ordeal. This means Brooks cannot automatically freeze the pre-trial discovery stage; the plaintiff’s attorneys can continue compiling evidence, requesting documents, and preparing for depositions while the appeal works its way through the backlogged court system.

The country singer, 64, has firmly denied the allegations and is reportedly imploring his legal team to bypass standard court timelines to overturn the lower court’s refusal to dismiss the case, hoping to pause discovery proceedings entirely.

An insider has said that the singer has “no option but to accept this, but he’s finding it tough and the most stressful scenario he’s ever dealt with his whole life,” adding, “ it’s still like a perennial dark cloud hanging over both their heads, and they’re in no mood to kick back or relax until he’s in the clear.”

The plaintiff has accused Brooks of sexually assaulting her on a 2019 work trip to Los Angeles for a Grammy tribute performance. The accuser was initially denied her motion under a pseudonym. When Jane Roe revealed herself, Brooks amended his complaint with both of their real names.
