Knicks Fans Slam Spike Lee During NBA Finals: ‘Sit the F*** Down’

Veteran filmmaker Spike Lee is drawing criticism for his courtside behavior during a recent NBA game at Madison Square Garden. Angry fans took to social media, asking the director to “sit the f*** down.”

Fans call out Spike Lee during Knicks game

Spike Lee stepped onto the court during Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday, June 8, 2026, which sparked controversy. Throughout the match, the director, who was courtside, was often seen stepping onto the court to confront officials in the middle of the game.

For instance, the Oscar-winning director stepped onto the court and called out the referee for not announcing a foul. He repeatedly tried to point it out, though the official seemed to overlook it. However, viewers who noticed it were deeply upset by Lee’s antics.

Angry fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration and call out the director. One user wrote, “All Spike Lee does is whine and cry all night. Sit the f*** down!”

A second user commented, “Why is Spike Lee allowed to get on the court and yell at the refs like that?”

Chris Maathuis criticized, “New York lost on and off the court. And Spike Lee, that nauseating menace, doesn’t belong on the front row or near the court if he acts like a middle schooler.”

Fox News’ Joe Concha also commented on the situation. He posted, “Spike Lee: Donald Trump is a distraction!  Also Spike Lee…” He then shared a video of the director on the court. Meanwhile, he asked in the video, “So, let me ask you this: Are we just allowing Spike Lee on the court to heckle refs in the middle of a game?… So, we’re just letting the opposing fans call the game. Okay.”

The New York Knicks currently hold a 3-1 series lead over the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals. The Knicks are now just one win away from clinching their first NBA championship in 53 years.
