Life at home has become a little more stressful for Kylie Kelce. The mother of four recently opened up about a mouse infestation that has left her scrubbing and disinfecting her home out of concern for potential health risks.
Kelce’s candid description of her cleaning routine struck a relatable note, particularly for those who are extra cautious about cleanliness and potential health risks.
Kylie Kelce gets relatable as she shares Hantavirus fears due to a mouse problem
The entire episode began when Kylie discovered mouse droppings in her kitchen, which itself sent her into panic mode. The mother of four recently opted to repair her beloved dishwasher after encountering an “error code”. On deeper investigation by the repairman, she uncovered a “waterfall of dog food” which mice were storing inside their gadget, after chewing through all the wires.
The podcaster and philanthropist said, “I am very particular about the kitchen and food preparation and, in particular, dishes. I love my dishwasher, and I love running it on sanitize. That’s my favorite setting. I love heavy duty, and I love sanitize,” adding, “It makes my heart happy. I like to blast, basically power wash my dishes and then heat them to a temperature that is going to annihilate anything that could possibly be on them.”
Kylie has resorted to intense cleaning of the apartment because she did not want, “Hantavirus from other people or the authentic way through rodent feces in your kitchen.”
The shocking discovery also has her considering keeping a cat, the natural predator of mice, despite the reservations of her husband, former NFL player Jason Kelce. Jason also happens to be the brother of Travis Kelce, whose relationship and impending marriage with singer Taylor Swift are making headlines.
The World Health Organization defines hantaviruses as rodent-borne viruses that can cause severe disease in humans, including hantavirus pulmonary syndrome and hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome.
