Taylor Swift‘s appearance at Game 4 of the NBA Finals sparked much excitement among fans, but not everyone was thrilled to see her courtside. The pop superstar became one of several celebrities targeted in a fiery rant from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who blasted the star-studded crowd at Madison Square Garden.
Dave Portnoy shades Taylor Swift in rant over Knicks game appearance
The New York Knicks’ 107-106 victory over the San Antonio Spurs drew a packed house that included some of the biggest names in entertainment, sports, and fashion. Taylor Swift attended the game alongside longtime friends Este and Alana Haim. At the same time, fellow celebrities including Ben Stiller, Timothee Chalamet, Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Tate McRae, and others were also spotted courtside.
The celebrity-heavy atmosphere did not sit well with Dave Portnoy. In an Instagram video posted after the game, the sports personality admitted he has never been a fan of New York sports teams or their supporters and said watching the celebration inside the arena left him frustrated. “I don’t know if it’s my personality or just me being a Boston fan,” Portnoy said. “But watching their fans celebrate in that arena — people who aren’t even basketball fans — made my skin crawl on a level I can’t even describe.”
The media personality expressed frustration after spotting the singer among the courtside crowd and questioned some of her celebrity friendships when cameras captured her interacting with other stars during the game. “I’m sick of her,” Portnoy said while discussing Swift’s appearance. He also referenced a moment when she was seen greeting Kylie Jenner after the Knicks’ narrow win.
New York Knicks radio analyst Monica McNutt also appeared to spot Swift sitting near the court while the microphones were still live. McNutt asked fellow announcer Tyler Murray if Swift was in attendance and pointed her out by describing her outfit and signature long ponytail. Murray then reportedly pulled out his phone to take a photo for his wife. McNutt’s response immediately caught attention online. “She’s not a Knicks fan,” she remarked. “Get out of here, girl.”
