During a recent interview, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) defended US President Donald Trump against naysayers. He began by saying he believes the government should establish a fund for people with “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” a term commonly used by Trump supporters to describe critics of the president.
“Maybe we ought to provide some counseling for all the nut jobs out there that think Donald Trump is the worst thing,” he added. “Donald Trump is the best thing to happen in this country in 100 years. He was born a special baby. I bet you the doctors said, ‘I can tell this is a very special baby,’” Nehls said.
The Republican seems to have made the remark sarcastically rather than as a literal statement. However, the interview clips have gone viral, garnering criticism from users across various social media platforms. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Y’all Trump bootlickers ever think about what you’re about to say before you say it?”
