The View Hosts Say Donald Trump’s Iran Deal ‘Worse’ Than Obama Agreement

Donald Trump’s latest comments about Iran are drawing fresh criticism, this time from the hosts of “The View.” The daytime panel weighed in on the reported framework of Trump’s proposed Iran agreement and questioned how it compares to the deal negotiated during Barack Obama’s presidency.

The discussion unfolded after Trump defended his approach during the G7 Summit in France while taking aim at Obama’s nuclear agreement with Iran. But according to several “The View” cohosts, the comparison may not be working in Trump’s favor.

During Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” moderator Whoopi Goldberg reacted to reports that Trump’s proposed agreement could give Iran access to billions in economic benefits while criticizing Obama’s deal from years earlier.

Referencing Trump’s criticism of Obama, Goldberg said, as per The Wrap, “This reportedly gives Iran access to $300 billion, to fund, to rebuild. So, where is the dumb son of a bitch? I don’t know what he’s talking about.”

Sunny Hostin argued that Trump remains fixated on his predecessor, telling viewers, “Obama lives rent-free inside of Donald Trump’s head, because Donald Trump knows that his legacy will never be the legacy of President Obama.”

Hostin continued, “He knows he doesn’t have the smarts, he doesn’t have the class, he will never be President Obama, even though he so desperately wants to be that kind of statesman.”

Perhaps the most notable criticism came from conservative cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin, who noted that she never supported Obama’s original Iran deal. Even so, she suggested Trump’s reported agreement may be even more concerning.

“I did not support the Obama Iran deal; based on the MOU that’s been leaked, this is far, far worse than Obama’s Iran deal,” Griffin said. “This is talking about — it’s a complete and total surrender and capitulation to the Iranians.”

She also questioned whether Iran would use any economic relief responsibly, adding, “No, they’re going to use it to fund terrorism in the region, as they have done, and as we criticized Obama for doing.”

The conversation eventually circled back to Goldberg, who summed up her frustrations with a blunt message for the president: “Do better then! You didn’t do better.”
