The search for Nancy Guthrie continues in Mexico after an anonymous tip. Volunteers searched for Arizona resident, Guthrie, who has been missing for more than four months. Ashleigh Banfield’s podcast ‘Drop Dead’ revealed a volunteer group, Buscando Corazones Nogales, investigating the information.
The Nancy Guthrie search expands near Nogales, Mexico, after an anonymous tip
Savannah Guthrie’s mother was last seen entering the garage of her Arizona home. Her family reported her missing after she failed to show up for a virtual church service. The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) have been investigating for months. However, no suspect has been named by them so far.
According to the Drop Dead podcast, an anonymous tip received by a Mexico-based volunteer group had detailed information suggesting the 84-year-old could be buried near Nogales, Mexico.
Banfield said, “They have had huge success in the past to the tune of finding 25 different unmarked graves in just one area. They got a tip, and it was specific. They have not released everything, but they said there were enough specifics in the tip to suggest that Nancy Guthrie is buried in the area southwest of Nogales in an area called Mariposa, butterfly in English.”
According to the podcast, the search efforts have expanded into surrounding areas locally referred to as ‘killing fields’, where multiple graves were reported in the past. The volunteer group reportedly began their search on May 16 and received additional information during a second call in June.
Banfield also mentioned the support from multiple agencies during the investigation. She said, ”The group went, began searching and did not go alone. They got help from the government.”
Sonora State Commission for the Search of Missing Persons, along with local authorities, backed the search group with security. Despite efforts, Savannah Guthrie’s mother has not been found, and the search continues.
