Zendaya Reveals Odd Frustration With Tom Holland

Zendaya has revealed there’s one area where Tom Holland’s Spider-Man expertise isn’t always welcome. While the longtime couple share a love of Marvel’s Spider-Man video games, Zendaya says things can get surprisingly tense when Holland tries to lend a hand.

The actress recently opened up about their gaming habits, admitting that her determination to beat difficult levels on her own sometimes clashes with Holland’s urge to step in and help.

Why Tom Holland can’t assist Zendaya while she plays Spider-Man video games

During a conversation with IGN Nordic, Zendaya and Tom Holland discussed their mutual appreciation for Insomniac’s popular Spider-Man games. Holland didn’t hold back when talking about the franchise, saying, “Well, I love the games. We love the games. They’re absolutely sensational.”

While both stars enjoy playing, Zendaya confessed that gaming doesn’t always come naturally to her. “I’m not very good at video games,” she admitted, explaining that she prefers playing in story mode rather than tackling tougher difficulty settings.

Even then, she isn’t interested in accepting assistance from her partner. “Yeah, that’s what I do, story mode, and I get really frustrated because I want to do everything myself,” Zendaya explained. “Then he tries to come over and help, and I’m like: no, I need to do this myself.”

The playful disagreement apparently reached its peak during a particularly challenging section of Marvel’s “Spider-Man 2.” Holland recalled a moment when Zendaya became stuck on a difficult mission involving MJ Watson.

“I think it involved MJ. Remember? She turns into some kind of monster, and it stressed me out so much,” Zendaya said, referring to the game’s Scream boss battle.

Holland couldn’t resist teasing her about it.“But you only had me there, and you didn’t want to share the controller,” he joked.

According to the actor, Zendaya eventually needed backup after all. “In the end, you did need my help because that part was really difficult,” Holland added with a laugh.

The exchange offered fans a rare glimpse into the couple’s private life and showed that even Hollywood’s favorite Spider-Man duo occasionally disagree. Fortunately, unlike many gaming arguments, this one seems more adorable than dramatic. Still, if Zendaya has her way, Tom Holland may want to keep his hands off the controller next time.
