A Prince William and Prince Harry reunion during the U.K. trip reportedly appears “incredibly unlikely.” The news comes just days ahead of the Duke of Sussex’s upcoming visit for a series of scheduled engagements. Updates on Harry bringing his family to the U.K. have refocused attention on the brothers’ long-running rift.
Prince William reportedly has no plans to meet Harry during his UK trip
Reports indicate that Prince William has no plans to meet his younger brother while the Duke of Sussex is in the UK. Prince Harry will travel to the U.K. this July, and he’s set to arrive with Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It will be the first time in four years that the California-based prince returns home with his whole family. As per the BBC, the Sussexes will attend events for the launch of the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.
Dan Wakeford, creator of the weekly Celebrity Intelligence newsletter, has been gathering insight from well-connected sources on the unexpected trip. He told Fox News Digital that royal observers shouldn’t expect “a complete reconciliation with the family.”
“It’s a slight thaw and a good beginning,” Wakeford said. “[Harry] is not going to be meeting William. I cannot see that happening at all. Harry reportedly wants [King] Charles to spend time with Archie and Lilibet, and he’s been pushing for that. And I think that will likely happen from talking to folks in and around this.”
“A William and Catherine meeting is incredibly unlikely,” added the longtime celebrity media editor. “The king is the door that might open, but the Wales household is completely bolted shut right now. [William’s] stance has not changed, and they would not arrange to see Harry and Meghan outside an official public engagement. And I don’t even think that is going to happen. That’s a much firmer line than Charles’ side of the street.”
According to Wakeford’s sources, King Charles could be willing to cover the family’s security costs during their UK stay. However, “folks are not confirming this on the record right now.”
