Prince William received praise from his friend and conservationist Robert Irwin, son of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin.
Irwin, who is an ambassador of the royal Earthshot Prize, has remarked that the future King is warm, genuine, and remarkably easy to talk to.
Robert Irwin says the royal is warm, genuine and easy to talk to, according to a report
Irwin said, “His Royal Highness Prince William has become someone that I work with quite a lot through the Earthshot Prize, which is, of course, his amazing global initiative to award the biggest and brightest solutions in environmental issues,” adding, “And basically, it’s about kind of looking at conservation and all of these big challenges through the lens of optimism, urgent optimism.”
According to OK! Magazine, Irwin continued with his glowing compliments, saying, “And he truly is, I think, one of the greatest environmentalists that we have on the planet. He’s amazing.”
Irwin said the unexpected call reflected the kind of person William is behind the scenes, describing the Prince of Wales as someone who genuinely supports the people he works with.
“This is a perfect example of what he’s like, right? I was doing Dancing with the Stars in America, bringing the conservation mission to a very different audience,” he said.
Irwin recalled that Prince William surprised him with a FaceTime call during rehearsals, wishing him luck ahead of his performances and leaving the conservationist caught completely off guard.
The Australian conservationist also praised William’s ability to make people feel at ease, explaining that conversations with the prince feel natural despite his royal status.
“Does that mean you’ve got his number in your phone?” the host asked, with Robert quipping: “On speed dial.”
According to the report, the pair have connected through William’s Earthshot Prize initiative, which recognizes innovative solutions to environmental challenges. Irwin has previously supported the awards and has worked alongside the prince on conservation-focused projects.
