A reality star is sharing a secret she’s kept from the public for a long time. Since its premiere in 2024, Layla Taylor has been a mainstay on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The series completed its fourth season in March with a fifth one upcoming.
Layla married Clayton Wessell in 2020, with the couple having two sons together. The pair divorced in May of last year, and the two are currently sharing custody of Maxwell and Oliver.
Layla has been in her share of relationships since that time, breaking up with Mason McWhorter earlier this year. With Pride Month ending soon, she recently made a big announcement.
SLOMW’s Layla Taylor is talking about her sexuality
Layla has a new woman in her life. The SLOMW star recently appeared on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast to discuss her sexuality. “I’m gay, and I’m bi and date women and men,” Layla revealed. This was a secret she had been holding on to for a while. Layla explains that she did not share this publicly before because she “didn’t know if it was just a phase.”
She may no longer be romantically involved with Clayton, but the two seem to be on good terms. Layla says that it was her ex-husband who encouraged her to come out as bisexual. Her breakup with Mason gave her more time to focus on herself and explore her sexuality more deeply. Her feelings towards women have been well known to her from a young age, though Layla says she didn’t have any queer representation growing up.
Layla did not disclose the name of her new love while on the podcast. She did reveal that none of her SLOMW cast members were aware of this. The fact that she is dating again comes the month after that appeared to be the furthest thing from her mind. In late May, Layla said she didn’t want to date “right now.” At the time, Layla said her kids and work came first.
