Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to visit the UK soon, each reportedly hoping to achieve something different during the visit. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will reportedly arrive with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. As per a source, Harry wants to reconnect with his family, while Markle wants to revive her royal prestige.
For Meghan Markle, this trip is going to be ‘strategic,’ claims source
According to royal commentator Mark Dolan, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s priorities are different for the UK trip. “I think that Harry wants to come back to the UK because he misses his family,” he said on Matt Wilkinson’s “The Royal Exclusive” podcast. He continued, “He misses his royal activities, and he misses England, you know, he misses the UK, and he wants his grandkids to spend time with their grandfather.”
Dolan then stated that for Markle, the reason is mainly “business.” He added, “I believe that Meghan is pathologically transactional, and so I think this trip is strategic for her.” Dolan also claimed that Markle wants to revive her status amid her US clout wavering. Moreover, business opportunities are becoming tougher to secure. The 52-year-old continued, “I think it’s emotional and nostalgic for Harry, which I think is, by the way, a big tension within the marriage. “
He further explained, “I think the two people want very different things in terms of the UK.” Dolan sees Markle’s return to the UK “as a chance to recalibrate those royal credentials, to go back to the royal well so she can be ‘Duchess’ again.”
The commentator also shared claims from Princess Diana’s former chief bodyguard, Ken Wharfe. He said the bodyguard feels that the Sussexes’ security demands are to project their VIP status. It’s allegedly not out of a genuine need for security. “He said there’s no way the U.K. authorities or the King would allow Harry to come to harm while he’s in Britain,” Dolan shared.
The Sussexes are expected to travel to Britain in the coming weeks. However, the exact date is yet to be confirmed.
