Carrie Underwood’s Golf Course Concert Ignites Brutal Backlash as Critics Blame MAGA Image

Carrie Underwood’s Fourth of July weekend performance at the John Deere Classic sparked criticism online, with some social media users commenting on everything from her performance to her perceived political affiliations.

Clips from the concert connected to a PGA Tour golf tournament in Illinois quickly spread all over social media and attracted snubs and jibes from viewers.

Critics said Carrie’s John Deere Classic performance reignited debate over whether her Trump ties are affecting public perception

According to the Daily Mail, Underwood performed a rendition of her 2005 hit “Before He Cheats,” a particularly brutal ballad directed towards an ex. The performance drew criticism from some social media users, with several linking their reactions to Underwood’s perceived support for Donald Trump following her appearance at his second presidential inauguration earlier this year.

‘That’s what going MAGA will do to ya!’ one wrote, as another snapped: ‘This song doesn’t hit the same ever since she sold her soul to the Cheater in Chief.’ Several users on X shared their reactions. One referenced her song lyrics, ‘Maybe next time he’ll think before he cheats,’ and wrote, “Maybe next time she’ll think before she votes!” Another wrote, “Never thought I’d see the day she would sound bad,” alongside a GIF.

Some critics mocked Underwood, saying that she may be capitalizing on having sung “America the Beautiful” at Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration last year. ‘God Save The Queen,’ a fan remarked, while another maintained, ‘She has always sucked.’ The performance also became the subject of online rumors, with social media users claiming that only “dozens” or “tens” of people attended the concert. However, the Quad-City Times, citing tournament officials, reported that the audience numbered around 12,000.

The online criticism came just days after Underwood took part in a celebration honoring country music legend Alan Jackson during his farewell concert in Nashville.
