Donald Trump has stated that he doesn’t know anything about Mitch McConnell‘s current health condition. The US president’s comment comes just a few weeks after the senior US senator from Kentucky was hospitalized for an unknown ailment.
Donald Trump has ‘no idea’ about Mitch McConnell’s health
Donald Trump has addressed Sen. Mitch McConnell’s recent health scare and hospitalization. Speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One, the president confirmed that he does not know how the Republican leader is doing now.
When asked if he has any clue about McConnell’s current health condition, Trump said, “No, I have no—I have no idea. I have no idea how he’s doing.”
Meanwhile, McConnell’s office continues to remain tight-lipped about the senator’s condition. He was hospitalized on June 14. According to initial reports, paramedics found an “unconscious” person at a known address for McConnell.
The 84-year-old’s office has not yet disclosed his exact medical diagnosis. In a June 14 statement, his office said, “Senator McConnell was admitted to the hospital this morning. He is receiving excellent care.” He has remained in hospital care for over three weeks.
Another statement came from a spokesperson, who said, “Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he’s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital. The senator continues to improve and is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters while the Senate is out of session.”
Most recently, McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, broke her silence on his hospitalization. Chao revealed why she did not cancel her diplomatic visit to China after her husband’s health scare.
Speaking with Fox News Digital, Chao’s spokesperson stated, “The secretary was on a long-planned trip in China to support her family’s philanthropic endeavors.” They confirmed, “During the trip, she met with a number of people, including the US ambassador. The senator’s health did not warrant an immediate return to the US.”
