King Charles Shares Reassuring Health Update After Veteran Expresses Concern

King Charles met World War II veteran 104-year-old James Fenton, at a military charity on the Isle of Man.

The two shared a sweet moment together. They first met during the 80th anniversary of VJ Day in London in 2025.

King Charles reassured a 104-year-old after he admitted he was “always concerned” about the monarch’s health

People reports that the King was delighted to see a familiar face at Heroes On The Water Isle of Man. This military charity supports military veterans and emergency service personnel through kayaking and other outdoor activities. Fenton, who worked as a bombardier with the 178th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, reciprocated the King’s feelings.

The King took the Burma Star recipient’s hands in his and said, “I wasn’t expecting to find you here,” to which he replied, “I’ve been waiting for this for quite some time; I hope you’re all well, sir.” The King sat down for a chat and replied, “Not too bad, thank you very much, but I don’t know how you do it. It’s bad enough at my age.” Fenton replied that one must keep going and expressed that he was “always concerned” for the King’s health.

“Thank God you’re still there,” the King said, and pointed out the hat Fenton was wearing. He added, “You’ve still got your slouch hat on.” Fenton expressed his joy on seeing the King and said, “I hope you can believe just how delighted I am.” The King shared in his joy, saying, “It’s a very special moment for me.”

King Charles first revealed his cancer diagnosis in 2024. Since then, he has been under treatment and reportedly has responded well. A royal spokesperson said, “His Majesty has responded exceptionally well to treatment, and his doctors advise that ongoing measures will now move into a precautionary phase,” adding, “This position will be continuously monitored and reviewed to protect and prioritize his continued recovery.” The King also revealed late last year that his medicines will be reduced in 2026.
