Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship continues to be strained despite the Duke’s reunion with King Charles. For those unversed, Harry visited the UK to honor his commitment to the Invictus Games, to be held next year in Birmingham. The week-long trip reportedly ended with the Sussexes and their children, Archie and Lilibet, privately meeting King Charles at his residence. An insider weighed in on Harry’s current equation with his father and older brother.
Prince Harry’s U.K. visit brought progress with King Charles but no contact with Prince William
As per an exclusive report by PEOPLE, Prince Harry’s recent visit to the UK has somewhat fixed his equation with his father, King Charles. However, he and Prince William remain estranged from each other. An insider revealed to the outlet: “It’s so broken.”
Another source added: “I thought it would have perhaps eased a little bit by now, to be honest. But there has been no movement, especially on William’s side. There is no contact.”
Interestingly, Harry and William were only 12 miles apart in London on July 7, during the first day of Harry’s U.K. trip. The brothers did not cross paths. The relationship between the brothers turned sour after the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Notably, the rift widened when Harry mentioned some intricate details about his family problems in his 2023 memoir Spare.
The Sussexes met King Charles at Highgrove House in a private reunion. Interestingly, the Prince of Wales attended his annual charity polo match in Windsor with his wife, Kate Middleton. Royal author Simon Vigar revealed: “[Princess] Diana would be devastated that it has turned out like this, particularly because [the brothers] were once so close.”
Royal historian Robert Lacey told the outlet: “The rift is very profound and very long-lasting. It will not be changed, in my opinion, until Harry makes a move and apologizes.”
Nevertheless, there is some good news for Harry. As per a source, his relationship with the King “is better.”
