Prince Harry reacted to England’s loss against Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals. He was asked at the TIME100 Sports Gala in NYC if he was sad about the defeat. “Of course,” the royal told Page Six.
Previously, Harry backed England to win the trophy in his interview on Joe Marler’s podcast. “I think it’s coming home, not going to be easy, never is,” the 41-year-old said. Harry’s elder brother, Prince William, gave his reaction to the loss.
“Gutted. England, you gave it everything and we are all so proud of you,” the Prince of Wales wrote on X. He continued, “Thank you to everyone on and off the pitch, for an incredible tournament. The fight and belief you have shown has inspired us all. The most complete England team in a tournament. Hold your heads high. W.”
Previously, he wished the team good luck for the semi-final match. “Well done England! Top performance in a tough environment. This is a special team. Commiserations to a proud Norway team.Onto the semi final… Never in doubt! W,” William shared.
While William has been vocal about his love for football, Harry hasn’t spoken much. While his favorite team is unclear, he once reportedly said that most of the royal family support Arsenal.
Besides the TIME100 Sports Gala, the Duke of Sussex made headlines for his appearance at the countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games. The game was founded by Harry to support wounded and sick military veterans. He received a warm welcome at the event, where he called the competitors an inspirational example of “standing together when it matters most.”
