Real Housewives of Orange County OG Jeana Keough has been diagnosed with cancer.
“A few months ago, while visiting [us] in Florida, my mom mentioned a painful spot on her tongue,” her daughter Kara shared. “She assumed a tooth had been rubbing against it and had even gone to the dentist multiple times to have the tooth filed down. I asked her how long the sore had been there. She paused, thought about it and realized it had been nearly a year.”
After undergoing a biopsy, doctors diagnosed squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. Subsequently, Jeana’s daughter Kara Keough has opened a GoFundMe account to help raise money for her medical expenses.
The former Real Housewives of Orange County star went public with her diagnosis
“After surgery to remove the cancer, we were hopeful that the hardest part was behind her,” Kara wrote on the GoFundMe page. Unfortunately, doctors “discovered the cancer had spread … Jeana is now in her fifth week of chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy. The treatments are relentless.”
Though at times she’s been critical of her mom’s sketchy photo-editing, Kara didn’t hesitate to fly to Orange County to care for her.
Furthermore, Kara said her mom is “becoming malnourished because the pain in her tongue and throat makes swallowing … incredibly difficult. Every day is a battle just to get enough nutrition and hydration to continue treatment.”
“Any funds raised will go directly toward expenses, everyday living costs, nutrition and the additional support she needs while undergoing treatment,” Kara explained on GoFundMe page. “Most of all, your generosity will remind her that she is not fighting this battle alone.”
In a July 19 Instagram post, Kara added, “If you’ve ever been touched by Jeana’s kindness, generosity, or friendship … please consider reading her story.”
Just a few months ago, the former Playboy Playmate shared that she had a new man in her life. Hopefully, her friends and loved ones are rallying to her side during her fight.
So far, $43,370 of the $50,000 requested on the GoFundMe has been raised.
