The Nolan Wells investigation case gets high-profile support from civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton and filmmaker Tyler Perry. Both prominent figures have agreed to raise $50,000 each as reward money, as Wells’ family continues pushing for answers. This reward will be given to whoever gives any information on the mysterious death of missing child Nolan Wells, who was found dead in Mississippi after a Fourth of July boat trip.
During Wells’ funeral on Monday, July 20, at Center Pointe Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, the Rev. Al Sharpton announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Filmmaker Tyler Perry, who also paid for the funeral services, said he would match the reward, bringing the total to $100,000. Sharpton has asked anyone with information to contact attorney Ben Crump, who is representing Nolan’s family.
In his eulogy, the activist also guaranteed the rewards would be paid before sundown if a tip proves to be successful.
In addition to Sharpton and Perry, former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and actor Lil Rel Howery have also helped the Wells family in the past. The player has helped fund an independent autopsy, while the actor has donated to the family’s GoFundMe campaign. Further, Director Spike Lee and former NFL player Terrell Owens also attended Nolan’s funeral.
Wells went missing on July 4 after a boating trip to Horn Island with friends, and his body was recovered two days later in the water. Officials have not yet released an official autopsy report, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
