Lindsey Graham’s Sister Finally Speaks on Her Brother’s Sudden Death: ‘Devastated’

Lindsey Graham‘s sister has described the moment she learned the senator had died. Darline Graham Nordone recalled the phone call during her first interview since his death, speaking with Sean Hannity on Fox News. She used the same appearance to confirm she will seek a full Senate term in November. She now holds the South Carolina seat her brother occupied for more than two decades.

Graham died on July 11 at 71. Preliminary findings from the District of Columbia medical examiner identified the cause as an aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, a tear in the main artery leading from the heart. He had returned from a trip to Ukraine hours earlier.

Graham Nordone, 62, told Hannity the news arrived without warning. “It was just unbelievable. It was like I was living a nightmare when I got the unexpected news,” she said. “I can’t even tell you how devastated I was when I got the call,” she added. She described the period since then as tough, and called her brother, her mother, and her father.

She said his travel schedule had concerned her, particularly frequent trips to the Middle East and Ukraine. She recalled telling him to slow down and take care of himself, while adding that she found peace in knowing he was doing work he loved.

Donald Trump, who leads the MAGA movement, recommended Darline Graham Nordone for the seat in a Truth Social post on July 13, calling the choice a tribute to Lindsey Graham. Gov. Henry McMaster announced her selection the same day, and she was sworn in on July 14, becoming the first woman to represent South Carolina in the Senate.

Graham Nordone said she prayed and spoke with her family before accepting, and described the position as a tremendous amount of pressure. She has said her campaign will focus on groceries, gas, and healthcare.
