Things are not going well with The View. Along with wardrobe budget cuts, the co-hosts have had to face the brunt of a declining trend in many aspects. Sources have told Page Six that hosts have been facing pay reductions. Pay cuts have been ongoing ever since the show’s Season 29 premiered in September 2025.
While Oscar-winning Whoopi Goldberg is still making a mid-seven-figure salary, Alyssa Farah Griffin doesn’t share the same story. Sources reveal that Griffin is earning a mid-six-figure salary, but was refused a substantial pay raise.
A particular cause for frustration is how the wardrobe will now go from “designer” to one of a Wendy Williams level. A source said, “They’re all mad because they were all wearing really expensive designer clothes, and now it’s the same budget of a Wendy Williams-type show versus a marquee daytime show.” They also addressed the current trend: “They keep downsizing and downsizing and downsizing.”
More pay cuts are expected as filming for a new season begins in September. Meanwhile, the filming space has been downsized, and the Halloween Episode will be scrapped. Deeper problems have emerged with product integrations. Reportedly, advertisers have already begun seeking The View’s competitors.
The source insisted, “There are definitely tensions with ABC.” The situation appears to be dark as the fan-favorite show has a rich legacy. “The View” has been on air since 1997. Its original host panel included Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Star Jones, Meredith Vieira and Debbie Matenopoulos.
The show also has seen the likes of Rosie O’Donnell, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Sherri Shepherd as guests. Other erstwhile hosts include Jenny McCarthy, Raven-Symoné, Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris and Meghan McCain.
