Chadwick Boseman‘s estate faced a new legal dispute nearly six years after the actor’s death. His brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, reportedly asked a court to remove his widow. They alleged that Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman had mismanaged the estate.

According to TMZ, Kevin and Derrick filed legal documents in a Los Angeles court. The brothers reportedly claimed that Taylor had failed to properly distribute Chadwick’s estate. They also alleged that she had not provided the family with sufficient information.
Chadwick died without a will, according to the brothers’ court filings. A 2022 court order reportedly gave his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, half of the estate. Taylor was reportedly granted control over the remaining half.
However, the brothers claimed that the estate’s distribution remained incomplete. They alleged that Taylor continued managing the assets without providing a full accounting. The estate reportedly included residuals, royalties, investments, insurance policies, and personal property.
The brothers also pointed to millions of dollars held across various bank accounts. The brothers also alleged that Taylor failed to transfer a long-term care insurance policy to Chadwick’s mother, properly account for SAG-AFTRA residual payments, and distribute funds held in more than $3 million across various bank accounts.
The brothers further claimed the situation had caused emotional distress for their family.
Kevin and Derrick reportedly asked the court to hold Taylor in contempt. They also requested that she complete the remaining distributions and provide a detailed accounting. The brothers reportedly wanted those steps completed within 30 days.
In addition to asking the court to hold Taylor in contempt, the brothers requested that she be permanently removed as administrator of Chadwick’s estate and replaced with attorney Jason Rubin.
The brothers reportedly wanted access to copies of contracts connected with Chadwick’s estate. They requested reimbursement for their legal fees and associated costs. Chadwick’s estate also involves his broader legacy as a celebrated actor.
The actor’s work included the groundbreaking Black Panther franchise and several other major films. His family has continued navigating his financial and creative legacy following his death. Chadwick passed away on August 28, 2020, following complications from colon cancer.
He battled the disease for four years. His death at age 43 shocked fans and the entertainment industry worldwide.
The court has yet to rule on the brothers’ requests, and it remains unclear how the latest legal challenge will affect the administration of Chadwick Boseman’s estate.
