A new report suggests that Prince Harry had a Royal reunion with King Charles because of his rising legal bills. Prince Harry visited the UK earlier in July to promote the Invictus Games in Birmingham. During the trip, King Charles met with Harry along with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Sources claim financial anxiety may be driving the Sussexes’ Royal reunion
According to a new report by Rob Shuter, Prince Harry’s motive behind the Royal reunion with his father, King Charles, was his financial issues. This comes after Harry suffered a defeat in a privacy lawsuit against the Daily Mail, which has reportedly piled up legal costs for the Duke.
Based on previous reports, the legal costs Prince Harry has been hit with amount to $67 million.
An insider suggested that Harry had approached the King because of fear of bankruptcy, and told Naughty But Nice, “It’s amazing how family suddenly becomes important when the bills arrive. Harry knows his father is one of the few people on earth who could write a check that size without blinking. Whether he actually will is another story.”
However, the palace insider also added that Harry might not get the kind of financial help he might be expecting from King Charles. According to them, although it seems like Harry is trying to reconcile with his father, it is mainly coming out as if he wants “someone to pay the bill.”
On the other hand, a source also claimed that Harry and Meghan Markle’s motive could be restoring their personal brand to afford their lifestyle. Despite stepping away from their Royal roles, the duo still use their titles, which have helped grow their brand.
The source told RadarOnline, “Many believe the Sussexes understand that maintaining a civil relationship with the monarchy is increasingly important if they want to strengthen their long-term prospects.” Another insider shared, “Basically, the Sussexes want back in the royal family as they fear their lifestyle may go bankrupt.”
