Lana Condor Reveals the Unexpected Real-Life Fright Behind The Devil’s Mouth

Lana Condor reveals the crazy experience the cast went through in the filming of her latest survival thriller, “The Devil’s Mouth”.

The actress said some of the cast’s real-life experiences while filming in Thailand were just as memorable as the on-screen thrills.

What happened while Lana Condor filmed The Devil’s Mouth

Condor revealed that the whole cast went through a gruelling shoot. The actress pitched the film to nine.com.au as, “Five friends get trapped in a cave with a shark.” She went ahead to warn viewers to “be prepared to scream.”

However, the biggest scares were felt off-screen. “I was attacked by a monkey, attacked!” Condor said while reflecting on the production in Thailand. Co-star Nico Hiraga jumped in, saying that he spotted a shark in open water. They also noticed sharks circling around actress Kathryn Newton while she was filming in the water.

“When we were shooting the yacht scenes, there were sharks swimming around us, and Kathryn was filming in the water,” Condor recalled. “We saw the fins, but we didn’t tell her because she was the only one who had to get into the water at that point.” Newton later joked, “They didn’t tell me that there were sharks around me!”

Condor noted that the production was demanding, requiring them to stay 12 to 13 hours a day in water, for a stretch of three months. “We filmed in the real ocean and in real cave systems,” she explained. She added that even the fake caves “that the incredible team built in Thailand” were 50 feet deep.

Co-star Gavin Casalegno also recalled that there was only one life jacket between the cast members. Condor admitted that the filming pushed them to their limits.

“I don’t think I could ever do that much water again. It was so much water,” she said.

“The Devil’s Mouth” follows five friends whose adventure through a remote cave system in Thailand turns into a fight for survival after they become trapped with a deadly bull shark. The film is now streaming on Prime Video.
