Prince William has reportedly drawn a hard line on any future reconciliation with Prince Harry, with an insider claiming he has laid out three non-negotiable demands before agreeing to rebuild their relationship.
The reported conditions come as speculation grows that Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest UK visit could signal the start of renewed discussions with Buckingham Palace about the couple’s future role within the royal family.
Prince William reportedly wants a public apology, a legally binding agreement
According to reports, Harry is believed to be exploring the possibility of negotiating a revised role within the monarchy following his recent visit to Britain. Such an agreement could reportedly revive the idea of a “half in, half out” arrangement, allowing the Duke of Sussex to combine selected royal duties with his independent life abroad that Queen Elizabeth II famously rejected when Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior working royals in 2020.
According to the insider, William believes Harry and Meghan must first accept responsibility for the damage caused by recent years of public conflict. The first condition, the source alleged, is a public apology from both Harry and Meghan directed at William and Kate, Princess of Wales. “As far as William’s concerned, there have to be consequences, starting with an apology from both Harry and Meghan to him and his wife. He wants to see them take accountability—and he wants it to be public,” the source claimed.
The second reported demand involves legal guarantees designed to prevent future public disputes. According to the insider, William “might consider sitting down with Harry but only if he’s willing to sign a legally binding contract stating there will be no more public attacks on the family.” The source further alleged that William does not even want Harry mentioning family members publicly without prior approval from the Palace.
The insider claimed Prince William’s third condition focuses on how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle present themselves publicly. “There won’t be any more of these shameless faux royal tours without permission, and he wants clear rules and boundaries set out over how Meghan uses her royal status to promote her brand. William says a legally binding contract is the only language the Sussexes will understand,” the source claimed.
