MGK has shared one of the most personal stories of his life. The musician revealed that he almost died after using too much cocaine, but a picture of his daughter changed his mind. During a candid new interview, he reflected on the terrifying moment. MGK said his children continue to give him a reason to keep moving forward.

During an appearance on The Set List with Carter Gregory, MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, opened up about his struggles with addiction. The 36-year-old said there are days when he “doesn’t want to be here anymore,” but his two children keep him going. He remembered one day when he was so high on cocaine that he feared his heart would stop beating. “The last image I wanted to see is my kid,” he said before explaining that he looked at a photo of his daughter Casie and told himself, “Oh, I can’t go.”
The experience made him realize he had to continue fighting for his life, MGK said. He also shared that his star chart predicted he “could die on this day.” The singer added, “I’ve tricked the Reaper so many times,” while referencing the lyrics from his song “Fix Ur Face.” He said he still has more he wants to accomplish and does not believe his story is close to ending.
The musician has two daughters, Casie, from his previous relationship with Emma Cannon, and Saga Blade Fox-Baker, with actress Megan Fox. He also recalled an earlier conversation with Casie on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. MGK said she once asked how she would know if he was high, and he called it “the ultimate letdown.” He said that moment became the first step in breaking what he describes as a generational cycle for his children.
For years, MGK has been candid about his struggles with addiction to cocaine, heroin, alcohol, and Adderall. After finishing the U.K. leg of his Mainstream Sell Out Tour, he entered rehab while battling alcohol, pills, and cannabis. Now, he says he is “completely sober from everything.” MGK also credited his former fiancée, Megan Fox, with helping him through the psychological withdrawals he experienced during sobriety.
