Spencer Pratt shared a plan to restore film tax credits in an in-person conversation with President Donald Trump. The reality star met the president during an event, where he focused on the role of incentives in the entertainment industry to bring back more production to the country.
Spencer Pratt reveals federal tax credit strategy to bring film production back
Spencer Pratt, 42, met Trump during an exclusive fundraiser in Southern California organized by the RNC. According to the NY Post, Pratt shared pictures with Trump and outlined his plan to revive film tax credits.
During the fundraiser roundtable, he criticized the entertainment industry and stated that production is increasingly moving overseas. He said, “While Gavin Newsom’s commissioner is actively outsourcing production jobs to Hungary, and his rogue AG is trying to destroy CA production companies, the adults in the room are actually trying to repatriate the most quintessential American industry.”
Pratt added that he is committed to helping save Hollywood industry and grateful to Trump for focusing on the 25% federal film tax credit.
“I’m committed to saving Hollywood, and I’m very grateful for the President’s remarkable generosity and focus on this issue. He is very passionate about revitalizing the entertainment industry. We will not let Canada, or the UK, or Budapest steal our lunch anymore. Speaking of lunch…best clam chowder I ever had,” he added.
There is currently no active federal tax credit for the film industry. The Section 181 tax provision previously allowed some independent film and TV producers to deduct qualifying production costs in the same tax year.
He also shared a video of Trump landing at National Golf Club in Los Angeles on his X account. He wrote, “Power” while sharing the video.
Pratt’s conversation with Trump highlights the push for stronger tax credits to bring more production to the U.S. While Pratt is pushing for the tax credits, there is no information on whether Donald Trump is committed to the proposal.
