She had allegedly witnessed the now-king playing with Princes William and Harry (then aged ten and eight) in the past. Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex’s memoir claimed that his father never hugged him.

Prince Edward’s ex reportedly challenged Prince Harry’s claims about King Charles’ parenting. According to The Express, Ruthie Henshall met many royal family members while dating Edward for five years. She had allegedly witnessed several memorable moments among these prominent figures.
In her new book, “The Showgirl And The Prince,” Henshall opened up about one such story involving King Charles and his sons. She recalled how Charles was as a father to the then 10-year-old Prince William and 8-year-old Prince Harry.
“I watched Charles playing rough and tumble with William and Harry in the Balmoral corridors. He clearly loved those boys, and they were squealing with joy as Daddy chased them.”
While Henshall’s observation portrayed a beautiful relationship between the king and his kids, Harry’s memoir said otherwise. In 2023, the duke dropped a bombshell on the royal family in the form of his book, “Spare.” He revealed behind-the-scenes moments and how each family member made him feel at the royal palace.
Harry wrote that his father “didn’t hug” him. According to him, Charles seemingly struggled to become a single parent after the death of Princess Diana. At that time, the couple had divorced, and the children often lived under their mother’s care.
Harry believed his dad couldn’t be a single father. “Even he, though a proud man, would’ve admitted as much. But single parenthood? Pa was never made for that.”
