Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Peters, appears to have offered himself as the answer to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s new single status.
After reports surfaced that the congresswoman had called off her longtime relationship with fiancé Riley Roberts, the 20-year-old responded to a post about it on Wednesday with, “I can fix her.” During a livestream later, the looksmaxxing influencer doubled down, claiming he would marry AOC while criticizing Roberts.
As TMZ noted, Clavicular and AOC’s public history dates back to before her split. Last month, the 36-year-old congresswoman was questioned about Clavicular and the looksmaxxing movement that brought him fame. Rather than going after the influencer personally, Ocasio-Cortez shifted the focus. She expressed concern that young men were becoming preoccupied with looks and experiencing the same body-image pressures women have long faced.
According to her, there is nothing wrong with wanting to look or feel better about oneself. But she cautioned against equating self-worth with physical attractiveness. Clavicular, however, disagreed with that take. He has consistently maintained that looksmaxxing covers more than the extreme practices often linked to him, per Complex.
Clavicular is now flipping that earlier clash into a very public bit of flirting after reports about AOC’s split surfaced. AOC and Roberts met at Boston University when they were 19 and dated for more than a decade before his 2022 proposal in Puerto Rico.
While news of the breakup broke this week, the relationship reportedly ended around two years ago. Questions about where they stood picked up when Ocasio-Cortez brought up freezing her eggs and thinking about the future, and didn’t reference Roberts at all.
