Michelle Obama found an unexpected connection with Megan Thee Stallion when the rapper reminded her of her youngest daughter, Sasha Obama. The comparison came during a warm conversation in which the former first lady praised Megan’s personality, spirit, and the familiar energy that made her feel almost like family.
Megan welcomed the comparison with a smile and revealed that she had actually spent time with Sasha after a Saturday Night Live performance in New York.
Megan Thee Stallion’s personality reminded Michelle of her daughter Sasha Obama
During the August 12 episode of the IMO podcast, Michelle told Megan, “You remind me of my youngest. Yeah, yeah. You and Sasha have similar sass levels.” She then explained, “She [Sasha] just, she’s all up in it. But your energy is just so familiar. It’s like family.”
Megan immediately replied, “I love that,” before sharing her own story about Sasha. She recalled hanging out with Michelle’s daughter after her Saturday Night Live performance and initially wondering why Secret Service agents surrounded them.
“I definitely wrapped her around and made my security be all around,” Megan recalled. “I was like, ‘Hold on y’all, we got the president’s daughter in here.’”
Michelle also praised Megan before their interview, saying, “I love this woman. We only met once, but she left a deep impression on me because of her energy, her spirit.” She added that Megan had “a maturity and grace” that people might not see immediately.
Craig Robinson also praised Megan and described her as someone who could “immediately belong in our family.” He also called her “warm.”
The conversation also touched on Michelle’s daughters. She shared that Malia and Sasha surprised her with a Mother’s Day road trip without Secret Service. Sasha drove while Malia sat in the back, giving Michelle a rare taste of normal family freedom.
Michelle previously said Sasha had returned to school after graduating from USC in 2023, while Malia had begun building a career in film. She described both daughters as smart, funny, and wise in their own ways.
