“Lose my number. Don’t ever call me again about her or I’ll end her career.”
Shannon Elizabeth says those words, or something close to them, reached her representatives from Harvey Weinstein more than 20 years ago. A spokesperson for the producer denies he ever said anything of the kind.
Shannon Elizabeth alleges Harvey Weinstein threatened her career after she signed a three-picture Miramax deal following American Pie
Elizabeth, 52, laid out the allegation to Variety for a piece that ran Thursday, Aug. 13. American Pie had made her a name in 1999, and Miramax handed her a three-picture deal on the strength of it. Two films came out of that agreement. The third never did.
Her manager and her then-partner shielded her through those years, she said, and both drew a hard line around meetings. “We did have some run-ins with Harvey, but my manager and my ex, Joe, were both very protective of me,” Elizabeth said, referring to Joseph D. Reitman. “So, when occasions arose that could have gone very wrong, they didn’t allow it to happen. If I was invited to meet Harvey somewhere, they would say no.”
The threat came later, she alleges. “Harvey did threaten my career,” she said, before recounting the message she says he passed to her team.
Weinstein’s camp calls the whole thing false. He “did not threaten Shannon Elizabeth’s career or make the statement attributed to him,” his representative told PEOPLE, pointing out that Elizabeth herself dates the remark to more than two decades ago and hedges on the exact wording.
“Professional disagreements happen in the film business, but they should not decades later be recast as threats without firsthand evidence or context,” the representative said. “Harvey is a convenient distraction that few would scrutinize. It just didn’t happen that way.”
Weinstein, 74, remains behind bars. California convicted him on sex crime charges in 2022, and a June 2025 trial added a conviction for one count of criminal sexual act. Judges turned down his appeal of that verdict in January.
For Elizabeth, the allegation lands during a period of rebuilding. Her OnlyFans page has helped drive a Hollywood comeback, and her last screen credit came in the 2024 film Plan B. A horror project called First Witch is next.
