Taylor Sheridan has ruled out a Yellowstone spinoff featuring the real-life 6666 Ranch. The Yellowstone co-creator says he will not fictionalize the ranch because of the community that lives and works there.

Taylor Sheridan appeared on the Rodeo Time podcast and spoke about the possibility of a Yellowstone spinoff. Sheridan said, “There’s never going to be one; I would never fictionalize that ranch. People thought that that was going to be a thing, but I would never do that.”
Sheridan featured community members from the ranch in a few episodes of Yellowstone Season 5, according to Entertainment Weekly. Many fans believed there could be a spinoff featuring the ranch.
However, Sheridan has now ruled out the idea. He added, “I’ve actually got on my computer all the scenes of Jimmy at the 6666 pulled out and strung together, and it makes its own perfect little movie. You watch him go there as this misfit, and leave as a man and a respected cowboy.”
In 2020, after the 6666 owner died, a group led by Taylor Sheridan reportedly purchased the ranch for a whopping $300 million. While talking about the purchase, he recalled his conversation with producer David Glasser. Sheridan said, “He [David] said, ‘If we buy it, can we make any money from it? And I said, ‘No, it’s a ranch — we’re going to lose our ass!”
Sheridan said that he didn’t want to “invent drama” around the ranch or make money from it.
“So now I’m trivializing and fictionalizing something where real people work, and they raise their families there, and I could never do that to them. I could never do that to the cowboys that dedicated themselves, and everybody that works on that ranch. I’m very protective of the Sixes, and it’s a big responsibility to be the person who has to protect that ranch, so I have to be very, very careful with it,” he added.
While he has ruled out a 6666 Ranch spinoff, Sheridan did create another fictional “Dutton Ranch” for Yellowstone.
