Wendy Williams, the former radio host and longtime daytime TV personality known for her bold celebrity gossip and outspoken style, is getting a new docuseries. Peacock has announced Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show, a three-part documentary set to premiere in 2027.

According to The Wrap, the series will look back at Williams’ journey from radio to daytime television. It will also explore how she helped change the talk show format.
The Wendy Williams Show premiered in 2008. It soon became known for Williams’ big personality and direct approach to celebrity news. The show ran for 13 seasons. It received 11 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and won a Creative Arts Emmy Award.
However, the docuseries will not focus only on Williams’ success. It will also examine the personal and professional costs that came with her rise to daytime television fame. The project is expected to revisit questions surrounding her departure from the show.
Williams was originally expected to host Season 13. However, she contracted COVID-19, and her return was later delayed by complications related to Graves’ disease and a thyroid condition. The show then brought in several guest hosts while Williams remained away.
One of those guest hosts was Sherri Shepherd, whom Williams had endorsed as an interim host. The Wendy Williams Show was eventually canceled and replaced by Sherri, which ran until its cancellation earlier this year.
The new documentary will also give viewers a behind-the-scenes look through interviews with more than 20 former staff members of The Wendy Williams Show. Their experiences are expected to offer a closer look at what happened behind the cameras during the show’s long run.
Suzanne Bass, who served as executive producer of The Wendy Williams Show for all 13 seasons, is also attached to the documentary as an executive producer.
Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show is being executive produced by Ian Orefice, Jon Adler, Amanda Spain and Missy Walker for EverWonder Studio. Chris Witherspoon and Vanessa Golembewski are also serving as executive producers.
