However, a heartbreaking piece of news has left Optimus Prime and Transformers fans devastated, as Peter Cullen, the iconic voice behind the character, has passed away.

Legendary voice actor Peter Cullen’s agent confirmed to TMZ that he died Wednesday at his Los Angeles home. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Cullen’s family said he died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
His family said, “Peter Cullen passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family – and held in the hearts of his many friends and countless fans worldwide. His family asks that you honor his remarkable legacy by serving your communities and leading others with compassion, integrity, and loyalty and always remember ‘be strong enough to be gentle.’”
When it comes to the Canadian artist’s remarkable voice-acting career, it began in the 1960s when he made his mark on stage and radio before entering the world of television.
In the 1980s, Cullen voiced prominent characters such as KARR in Knight Rider and Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh projects. However, 1984 marked a turning point when he first voiced Optimus Prime in Transformers. The role went on to build Cullen’s lasting legacy in pop culture. In 2023, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards.
Although Transformers fans know Peter Cullen best for his iconic portrayal of Optimus Prime, the voice actor brought many other major characters to life throughout his career. His notable roles included Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh, Monterey Jack in Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers and KARR in Knight Rider. He also voiced King Kong in the 1976 film King Kong, provided the Predator’s vocal effects in Predator and voiced characters including Red Skull, Hulk and Mysterio in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.
