Transport Secretary Sean Duffy faces renewed backlash after an old podcast video showing him making crude remarks about Sydney Sweeney resurfaced online. Social media users slammed Donald Trump’s administration official for discussing the actor’s body in explicit terms while sitting next to his wife.
Sean Duffy’s comment on Sydney Sweeney resurfaces
The video comes from a March 2024 episode of From the Kitchen Table: The Duffys, a Fox Nation podcast Duffy hosted with his wife, Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy. The couple titled the episode “Can Sydney Sweeney Save America From Going Woke?” following the actress’s Saturday Night Live hosting stint.
In the clip, Duffy looks directly at the camera and says: “I’m gonna give you my take on Sydney Sweeney’s breasts.” He then defends his remarks by claiming men naturally appreciate women’s bodies. “If we’re honest, men appreciate women, and men that appreciate women are not toxic,” he says.
Duffy brings religion into his argument moments later. “God made us a certain way to appreciate and want to mate with a woman,” he states. He adds that Sweeney serves as “a reminder that men are still men. I’m sorry, we are.”
Campos-Duffy laughs throughout her husband’s monologue. She chimes in with “And women are still women,” which he repeats approvingly. Duffy then escalates his comments further. “Sydney Sweeney’s boobs make us want to reproduce,” he says, before adding, “Sydney Sweeney’s boobs are gonna save America.”
The resurfaced video triggered criticism. Independent journalist Karly Kingsley called Duffy a “f***ing creep.” Another user wrote, “Dude seriously made a video with his wife next to him talking about other women’s breasts. Wtf.”
Fox Nation’s original description for the episode promised the couple would examine “how Sweeney’s appearance is making many Americans remember how different men and women are in a society full of ‘gender fluidity’.”
After all, the episode stemmed from right-wing commentator Richard Hanania’s essay titled “Yes, Sydney Sweeney’s Boobs Are Anti-Woke,” which he published after Sweeney’s SNL appearance (via The Daily Beast).
