Lionel Richie’s Health Situation Takes New Turn With Hospital Update — Report

Lionel Richie remains under medical care after another health scare interrupted his latest concert. The 77-year-old singer now faces testing for a possible cardiac issue, worrying fans further after a dizzy spell and hospitalization earlier this summer.

Latest update on Lionel Richie’s health and hospitalization

Lionel Richie’s St. Louis concert appears to have taken a toll on the veteran performer. After his Saturday night appearance at the Muny Amphitheater, the singer was admitted to a local hospital, where doctors first focused on dehydration. TMZ reported Tuesday that his medical team has since begun evaluating a possible heart-related issue.

The hospitalization comes during Richie’s 26-city North American run with Earth, Wind & Fire. During the St. Louis show, he needed to sit while performing “All Night Long.” Richie later checked himself into the hospital, where doctors initially evaluated him for possible dehydration. TMZ reported that he could potentially be discharged Wednesday.

Richie has yet to comment publicly on his latest hospital stay, but this is not the first health-related interruption to hit his current tour. Fans were already concerned in June after the singer struggled through a show at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota. He repeatedly took a seat during “Dancing on the Ceiling” before ultimately bringing the performance to an early end.

The health scare forced Richie to scrap his next scheduled appearances in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio. While speaking to the St. Paul crowd, he offered a blunt bit of advice about his condition, saying, “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down.”

Weeks later, Richie attempted to reassure everyone following the incident. On July 4, he posted a message on Instagram thanking fans for their concern, writing, “I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.” His latest hospitalization, however, has not received a public statement from the singer so far.
