Is Jesse Lally the Perfect Valley Villain, or Just Misunderstood?

The Valley has changed my TV lineup. No, I’m not being dramatic, but the Bravo series has really been a breath of fresh air, especially since so many franchises are being rebooted or put on pause. I believe one of the reasons the show is doing so well is in part due to Jesse Lally. The East Coast implant understood the assignment when he was hired for the show. He was a new face and not a fan of. However, some of his antics have landed him in the villain category, but I wonder if he is just misunderstood.

Did Jesse Lally imply ex Michelle Saniei is an escort on The Valley Season 2?

There is nothing worse than going through a messy divorce. But then Jesse goes and proves me wrong with his allegations against Michelle Saniei. During Episode 3, fans learned that there was a guy’s chat that was R-rated, thanks to some of the conversations. In the chat, Jesse alleged that he had “evidence” that his wife was “sleeping with a billionaire for $1,500 a night.” Naturally, the accusations crushed Michelle, and many of us were left with the ick. Being mad at your ex is one thing, but trying to disparage their character is a whole other issue.

But he was quick to walk back his remarks on The Valley After Show. He noted, “It was a rumor that I heard … I don’t know if it’s true.” But the damage had already been done after the entire group heard about the claims while at Dave and Buster’s. He added, “I’ll give you the context. This is an excuse ’cause I regret doing that and I wish I had unsent that message. But what happened was Michelle had gone and done a Q&A, and a bunch of people said, like, ya know, ‘Why is Jesse so douchey?’ And her response was, ‘I don’t care, he’s not my problem anymore.'”

Jesse Lally is open in The Valley confessionals about enjoying the mess

I knew this season of The Valley was going to be good at the end of Episode 1. Jesse is taking no prisoners when it comes to his divorce from Michelle. He first spoke about her new boyfriend, Aaron, whom he believes is the guy Michelle cheated with. In Episode 3, he broke down his theory that they’d been dating for over a year. Evidently, Michelle started going on Runyon hikes last year at the height of summer, wearing a full face of makeup (No one in LA does that.) And their pantry was stocked full of Aaron’s honey. The math was mathing for Jesse, who added, “If I find out that Aaron was the boyfriend and the guy who broke up my marriage, that will not go over well.”

But perhaps Jesse’s most telling move was when he and Michelle were chatting about their daughter, Isabella’s education, during the summer white party. Jesse was trying his best to push his soon-to-be ex-wife’s buttons as he told her he would fight for full custody and move her to Orange County. A producer asked if the comment was meant to upset Michelle, to which Jesse replied, “A hundred percent. Let the chaos begin.”

The Valley Season 2’s best storyline has Jesse Lally at the center

Jesse is giving Jax Taylor a run for his money this year for the most interesting storyline. The realtor is all up in everyone’s business, which has made him the number one guy in the group. Firstly, he has mended fences with Kristen Doute, so hell must have frozen over. I’m invested in the friendship, to be honest, and I loved their tea party. Michelle has also insinuated that Jesse is living beyond his means. Does the man work? I’m hoping we get to find out.

And obviously, his biggest storyline will be haunting Michelle’s dreams until the divorce is finalized. As a fan, I find Jesse way more interesting than the resident villain, Jax. We’ve seen the same song and dance from the bartender for years. Maybe it’s time to crown a new prince of darkness? Now, Jesse might be going over the top a bit when it comes to picking on Michelle. But the next episode will show her trying to kick Jesse out of the rental house for the trip he planned for the group. This move will undoubtedly ruffle a few feathers and cause, I hope, even more drama. The jury is still out on Jesse, but I think by the end of the season we will have a verdict.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
