Among other things, Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has shown a marriage on the rocks. Specifically, Demi Engemann and her husband Bret Engemann have the spotlight pointed on them, and for similar reasons. At first, it was alleged that Demi stepped out of their relationship in order to have a brief fling with Marciano Brunette during her Vanderpump Villa stay. Not only did she deny being unfaithful, but she has also since accused Marciano of sexual assault.
Season 2 also points the infidelity finger at Bret. There’s a scene in which he is accused of sleeping with another woman whilst Demi was away. He also denied cheating, but it was his demeanor about the situation that raised some eyebrows, even for Demi. Is their relationship heading down a bad path? Their co-star Layla Taylor has a guess.
Can The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives couple Demi and Bret Engemann’s marriage survive reality TV?
Layla was a recent guest on Nick Viall’s The Viall Files podcast. It was during the segment, that she gave a pretty blunt answer in regards to if Demi & Brett can get past this hurdle.
“No [they won’t last]. think this [reality TV] world unfortunately might — with the way that she’s operating with the [drama] — this might break them,” she explained in the May 20 episode.
Joining her on the podcast was fellow cast member Mikayla Matthews. She doesn’t have as much beef with Demi as Taylor does, which makes for her answer to save more face.
“It’s hard to see or say because I feel like I don’t know how deep their relationship lies. On social media, you would think it’s perfect. But as we know from many other couples, social media is not a reflection of how your relationship really is. I would give it a maybe. I would say yes. I’ll say yes for now.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is available to stream on Hulu. The show streams on Disney+ in the UK.
