I don’t think Kody Brown will ever become tired of trying always to be right, even at the expense of his relationships with his kids. The Sister Wives star has pushed a significant wedge between most of his children. And his last remaining line was severed with Mykelti Brown last year. Both have kept their cards close to their chest until recently. During the tell-all, Kody dropped a few bread crumbs, which got fans thinking. Here’s what we know.
Why did Mykelti Brown pull away from the Sister Wives family?
In October 2024, a Sister Wives episode aired where Kody was shown mocking Maddie Brown. His eldest daughter with Janelle Brown had pulled away years ago. But the polygamous patriarch decided she was the “gossip of the family. He also added that it wasn’t fair to assume that grandparents can be in their grandchildren’s lives all the time. Mykelti took issue with her dad’s careless words and clapped back on her sister’s behalf. The Sister Wives star took to her Patreon to set the record straight. In an unkind video, she noted, “Instead of blaming the children, or blaming how they feel about his relationship with his other wife or blaming the parents or blaming gossip or whatever, if he just said, ‘Look, I understand I did blank wrong. I’m sorry. Can we talk about it?’ I feel like that would go such a long way.”
Mykelti didn’t stop there. She went on to reveal to subscribers that she and her siblings were owed an apology by her father. She stated, “I have said, ‘Look, Dad, this situation happened. I needed you to do this for me, and instead, you did it. You blamed somebody else, and because of that, we’re having issues.” Obviously, Kody’s ego never recovered.
Kody Brown hints at ongoing feud with Mykelti
During the third installment of the Sister Wives tell-all, Kody seemed to hint at his estrangement from Mykelti. Fans will recall for a long time that Mykelti was the only one who was kind to Robyn Brown. The daughter of Christine Brown had a close relationship with Robyn and Kody. And even invited the fourth and favorite wife to be there for the birth of her twins. So something went wrong along the way. While touching on the topic of PDA, Kody revealed that the last time he and Robyn showed affection in front of the Browns the couple “got kicked out” of the event.
Since Mykelti posted her video, there have only been a few family get-togethers. This would include Gwen Brown’s engagement party and Garrison Brown’s National Guard memorial and funeral. Hints of trouble have circulated with Meri Brown, even noting she wasn’t supportive of the couple after an incident occurred at the funeral. When asked for more details, Kody said, “I’m not going there. Yeah, they f*cked with us bad. And boy, it cost me dearly.” Kody then told viewers, “It’s a story that just cannot be told. It’s just, there’s something so vitally detrimental to your life, you’re just not going to talk about it.” He then told Suki, “Let’s just not talk about it.” The host asked, “It’s that traumatizing?” to which Kody replied, “Um, until Meri and Janelle are remarried, I will not show PDA to Robyn in front of them.”
Can Kody Brown salvage a relationship with his kids?
In general, I always have hope that people will take their second chances. But the thing with Kody is that he often forgets that he is the adult. No matter how old your children get, they are always the kids in the situation. But Kody’s Achilles heel is always wanting to be right. I can imagine Kody choosing to console Robyn while ignoring Garrison’s siblings. That move would upset any of the Browns. If so, it makes sense why Mykelti might no longer be speaking with the couple. Knowing how Kody operates, he was probably too touchy-feely with Robyn, and I would bet that Mykelti asked them to tone it down, and Kody was offended. His relationship with his entire family, excluding Robyn and their kids, is fractured. And it doesn’t look like the father of 18 cares to repair them.
