According to Page Six, Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos made donations to the charity of Venice in April as part of their wedding plans. The couple is also adding their guests for the noble contributions. These include Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Oprah Winfrey, and Ivanka Trump. The insider added that the guests were already informed in May that the couple would be making donations to honor the attendees instead of gifts. They took this decision so that “Venice will continue to inspire wonder for generations to come.”
For the unversed, Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos will have a three-day wedding celebration in Venice from June 24 to 26. According to reports, the ceremony is expected to take place aboard the businessman’s $500 million yacht, called Koru. The exotic locations include the island of San Giorgio and the exhibition space, Scuola Grande della Misericordia.
Additionally, the island has reportedly been booked for an entire week for the festivities. The organisers have booked 30 out of 280 water taxis and top hotels for the accommodation of the guests.
Ahead of the wedding, protests sparked in Venice against the events due to overcrowding and anti-capitalism. However, Mayor Luigi Brugnaro has shown support for the wedding, believing it will benefit the local businesses. Meanwhile, the Municipality of Venice also supported the ceremony in March. They stated, “The many speculations and fake news circulating about Jeff Bezos’ wedding are completely unfounded. Only 200 guests will have been invited and therefore it will be easy for Venice to accommodate such an event, without any disruption whatsoever to the city, its residents and visitors.”
