When it comes to Bravo villains, some are born, some are made, and some jet off to Europe mid-scandal. Enter: Janet Caperna. If you’ve been watching The Valley, Bravo’s spicy spinoff packed with parenting, pettiness, and passive-aggressive playdates, you already know Janet has become this season’s lightning rod. And in true Bravo fashion, the drama didn’t stop when the cameras did. Now, fans are buzzing after Janet seemingly fled the U.S., and no, this wasn’t a political statement. Sources say she’s gone full ghost, locking down her socials and leaving even the most loyal followers wondering what happened?

The Valley villain Janet Caperna has fled the US

Let’s start with the facts. Following multiple explosive Season 2 episodes of The Valley, it has become clear that Janet is nowhere to be seen in Los Angeles. Fans noticed first that she stopped posting.  And then came the bombshell that sources confirmed that Janet had left the country entirely. According to The Daily Mail, Janet, Jason Caperna, and their son, Cameron, fled to Switzerland this week. But why did she go? Americans can only stay in Switzerland for 90 days without a tourist visa. Is this a PR stunt, a vacation, or the first step to a bigger plan? From the looks of Jason’s posts, it does just feel like a planned summer vacation sprinkled with bits of drama.

And sure, Janet’s always been a little blunt, but this season, she really leaned into the villain role. Between her shady comments, yelling at Kristen Doute, and her refusal to apologize for anything, she painted a target on her back. And fans? They aimed and fired. Could it be Janet also left the United States because she knew the worst of her reality TV behavior was yet to come?

Janet had to lock her social media down after The Valley viewer trolling

By mid-season, Janet’s Instagram comment section had turned into a full-on battlefield. Viewers flooded her posts with everything from snake emojis to full-blown rants about her behavior. And after the most recent episode aired, where she made Kristen’s proposal about her, things got ugly. Fast. Within 48 hours, Janet locked her Instagram down and turned off her comments. It is clear that the online harassment has gotten extremely personal, with trolls targeting not just Janet but her family. To be fair, Janet never claimed to be the lovable type. She came into The Valley with a sharp tongue and a sharper eye roll. And she made no apologies for stirring the pot. But even Bravo villains have their limits, and apparently, so does her Wi-Fi signal abroad.

Janet shared with the outlet a few of the nasty posts. One read, “I hope you rot like you deserve.” While another added, “I hope your child grows up absolutely hating you.” One troll wrote, “I know where you live. I’ve seen where your son goes when you’re not with him.” Janet is now ready to speak out about the online abuse. She told readers, “I’m sick of threats and slurs being normalized because ‘we signed up for this’ when we joined reality TV. That’s sick and not normal and I’m not ever going to pretend it’s normal or acceptable to message strangers threats and slurs.”

Will Janet return to The Valley Season 3’s cast?

Janet went on to add, “It’s sad to me that people go this far, it’s definitely the worst part about this job. I’m learning how to put boundaries on social media in place and learning as I go. I support healthy dialogue around reality TV and think some of the best conversations about modern culture stem from shows like ours.” But Janet is drawing a line in the sand. The mother of one added, “I’m far from perfect, and people are seeing the best and worst of all of us when we put our lives in front of cameras. My hope is people can have fun conversations about reality TV without going as far as some have recently.” Now for the million-dollar question: Is Janet coming back? Some fans are convinced Janet’s overseas exile is just temporary and that she’ll make a dramatic return.

And while there have been calls to fire Janet, I don’t think this is what Bravo had in mind. With all this being said, don’t count her out just yet. Bravo loves a redemption arc, and Janet’s departure could set her up for a surprise comeback with a new attitude. But whether you loved her or couldn’t stand her no one deserves to be sent death threats, Janet kept the show interesting. Without her, The Valley risks becoming too kumbaya. And nobody tunes in for peaceful parenting moments.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
