Love Island USA’s Cierra Ortega’s Parents Release Statement After Her Removal

Season 7 of Love Island USA has been full of surprises. Unfortunately, not all of them have been positive. Bombshell Cierra Ortega connected with Nic Vansteenberghe from the jump. They were separated during Casa Amor but quickly recoupled when all the Islanders returned to the villa.

In addition, Nic and Cierra were the first islanders to officially close off their relationship. Plus, Cierra was popular with the entire cast. However, she was removed from the villa. The narrator stated that Cierra departed the show “for personal reasons.” However, she was ousted because of racial slurs that Cierra made in old social media posts.

The Instagram Story post that stirred up the controversy involved Cierra chatting about Botox while dropping a slur that is offensive to Asian people. Now, her parents have released a message on Cierra’s Instagram Story. “As Cierra’s parents, this has been one of the most painful weeks of our lives. We’ve seen the posts, the headlines, the hurt, and the hate. And while Cierra hasn’t seen any of it yet, we have,” the statement began. “We’re not here to justify or ignore what’s surfaced. We understand why people are upset, and we know accountability matters.” The statement went on to reference the backlash against Cierra.

“The threats. The cruel messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it’s heartbreaking. And no one deserves that kind of hate, no matter what mistake they’ve made,” the message continued. “While she’ll always be our little girl, she’s also a woman, one who will take responsibility in her own time and her own voice. Until then, we’re simply asking for compassion. For patience. For basic human decency. Not just for her, but for everyone caught in the middle of this.”

Sadly, Cierra isn’t the first Islander booted for using racial slurs. Yulissa Escobar was kicked out during Episode 2 for using racist language during previous podcast appearances.

Love Island USA is available to stream on Peacock, with new episodes airing every day except Wednesdays.
